New features: Hide images and Show source

2009-09-24 16:09:38: A new version has been deployed which includes the tow requested features:
- Hide images: All images will be hidden by default, with a new option to display them. This should stop hidden trackers
- Show source: A new option that pops up a new window/tab in your browser containing the full source code of the mail (*INCLUDING* the attachments)

Have fun!

POP3 Access, Premium accounts and spam abuse

2009-09-02 18:42:23: This news begins on a sad note, spammers using MailCatch to spam...
They were registering the email address of poor people in the forwarding feature to have them spammed BY mailcatch!

Obviously this is against all that MailCatch stands for and I promptly deleted all forwards that looked dubious.
To prevent this from happening again too much the forwarding feature will be now only be available to "premium accounts".
For a nominal fee (2€/month) you can subscribe and use the forwardings as usual, without restrictions. (Obviously if I find you trying to abuse it your account is going to be closed real fast).
It does annoy me to have to do that but this seems to be my most safe alternative, because it will deter "script kiddies" and by paying I get the customer name/... so I can point the authorities to him should I need to.

However because I still felt bad for doing it, there is an added bonus to the premium accounts: POP3 access!
Now you can access any MailCatch inbox from your email client.
And if you are real nice a new bonus will come out in a few weeks, the ability to reply!

Oh and everybody that will contribute a domain to MailCatch (see the previous post) will be granted a free premium account to thank them.

Alternate domains at MailCatch.com

2009-08-26 17:21:50: If you point your browser to http://mailcatch.com/en/temporary-inbox-hosts you will notice MailCatch now allows you to make one of your domains point to it and it will eat spam all the same!
I have registered two new domains (ieatspam.info ieatspam.eu) they should appear on this page in a few hours/day once the registration process is complete.

So if you have some domains lying around you can use them to help people fight spam!

Mails count is now displayed in the browser title

2009-07-24 10:26:20: For people who desire to monitor easily their MailCatch inbox, the number of unread mails and total mails is now displayed in the titlebar of the browser. On most tab-enabled browser it will also show up on the tab itself making it easy to follow.

Have fun!

New server

2009-04-08 12:39:46: I am moving MailCacth to a new server, the DNS are updated but it will take a few hours to propagate during this time the service will be unreliable as mails can still try to end up on the old server.

Sorry for the disturbance

New forum

2009-03-02 16:34:24: Hi dear users,

As some of you might have noticed the old forum was not exactly great, overrun by spam as it was.
It was also kinda .. lost .. in the migration the a new server.
So welcome to the new forums, it uses the same software as our other service, the online PIM - NetPIM.Info

Have fun!
